Call for Research Proposals - California Cling Peach Board Due by January 17, 2020

Dec 4, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

The California Cling Peach Board is seeking research proposals for 2020-2021 funding period.

The Research and Statistics Committee of the California Cling Peach Board has the same research priorities as last year.

  • Due to increasing costs and shortages of labor the highest research priority is for Labor/Cost Savings in production practices.
  • The committee will be looking to fund innovative and sound research addressing this issue in both the short and the long term.
  • The committee expressed particular interest in addressing harvest and thinning costs and the viability of pedestrian orchards for cling peach production.
  • Additional issues in order of priority are: New Varieties, Disease Control and Insect Control.

Those interested in additional information regarding procedures for submitting research proposals can contact Janine Hasey (jkhasey@ucanr.edu  or 530-822-7515), U.C. Liaison Officer, Cling Peach Board Research Advisory Committee.

Proposals should be submitted to Chris Zanobini (chris@agamsi.com), California Cling Peach Board, using the attached U.C. Project Plan/Proposal form by January 17, 2020.

The annual California Cling Peach Board Research Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. at the Sutter-Yuba UC Cooperative Extension meeting room at 142 Garden Highway in Yuba City. All principal investigators will be expected to make a brief oral presentation and answer questions related to their project at that meeting. Researchers funded in 2019 will also give a presentation on results at the Sacramento Valley Cling Peach Day on February 4, 2020 in the morning. Program to follow by early January 2020.

Thank you.
