Glenn County 4-H conducted scholarship interviews for graduating seniors on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Two very deserving 4-H youth members were evaluated on their application, individual interviews, and growth in the 4-H program. The recipients are heavily involved in the community, both inside and outside of 4-H. We couldn’t be prouder to award them with scholarship funds to further their education. Each recipient has worked hard to maintain excellent grades, gained work experience throughout their high school careers, and donated several hours of their time giving back to not only the 4-H program, but also their community.

Emily Karle of the Lake 4-H Community Club has been in 4-H for 13 years and is a Senior at Orland High School. Emily has previously held leadership roles as Club President, Club Treasurer, Club Reporter, and 4-H Camp Youth Director. She has been a role model for other members and assisted projects as a Teen Leader for the Dairy Project, the Veterinary Science Project, and the Archery Project. Glenn County 4-H Press Release - Glenn County Youth Celebrate National 4-H Week: October 1-7

October 10, 2023

Glenn County Youth Celebrate

National 4-H Week: October 1-7

Every year, National 4-H Week sees millions of youth, parents, volunteers, and alumni come together to celebrate the many positive youth development opportunities offered by 4-H. A campaign was created by the National 4-H Council to rally support for Cooperative Extension’s 4-H program and identify solutions to eliminate the opportunity gap that affects 55 million kids across America. The theme for this year’s National   4-H Week was “4-H is a Feeling – I Love 4-H.”

More than a feeling, 4-H provides empowering experiences that create confidence and foster a sense of belonging for kids everywhere. 4-H also provides youth a place to feel valued, heard, and connected. Through various project opportunities, such as quilting, arts & crafts, swine, dairy, archery, and baking to name a few, a space is created for learning, connecting, and belonging. Our dedicated volunteers provide impactful experiences to encourage growth in our youth and to assist in finding their spark.

Glenn County 4-H observed National 4-H Week this year by highlighting some of the inspirational 4-H youth in our community who are working tirelessly to support each other and their communities. The 4-H Program Community Education Specialist, Christine Kampmann, 4-H Advisor Nicole Marshall-Wheeler, and County Director, Betsy Karle, along with 4-H youth members Emily Karle and Jordan Thomas, presented the National 4-H Week Proclamation at the Glenn County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. In Glenn County, more than 500 4-H youth and 100 volunteers from the community are involved in the 4-H program.

About 4-H – 4-H, the nation’s largest youth development and empowerment organization, cultivates confident kids who tackl
