WILL BE HELD AT 8:00 A.M.

 


     Sessions are as follows (please arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time): 

                        9:00 a.m.                                 Sheep & Dogs

                        9:30 a.m.                                 Swine (Session 1) & Beef

                        10:00 a.m.                               Swine (Session 2) & Horse

                        10:30 a.m.                               Goats (Session 1) & Dairy

                        11:00 a.m.                               Goats (Session2) & Dairy Goats

                        11:30 a.m.                              Rabbits, Avian & Cavy


WHERE?     

UC Cooperative Extension Office, 821 E. South Street, Orland

WHO?            

Any 4-H member.

HOW? 

Online registration or call-ins accepted. Registration deadline is Friday, February 17, 2017. Please register in the appropriate time slot. Only 4-H youth participants will be allowed in contest room. No day-of registration will be allowed. Participants may compete in more than one species, but only one per time slot.

WHAT IS IT?

The Livestock Challenge is an opportunity for members to demonstrate their livestock knowledge. This will not be a quiz bowl as in years past. Members will rotate through different stations and answer questions related to the species selected.

            ?         Questions are taken from the livestock & livestock judging study guides. Additionally, members should be familiar with feeds & feed tags, parts of the animal, showmanship and conformation.

            ?         Any 4-H member can enter, Junior Division (or 9 yrs. old by December 31, 2016) thru Senior Division. Primary members can participate in either the Rabbit, Dog, Cavy or Avian categories.    

AWARDS? 

Award for the top winner in each species!
