Anything But Animals Judging

Anything but Animals Judging Day is an educational event in which members attend judge different classes of projects (Scrapbooking, nutrition, rocketry, crafts, leather crafting, etc.), identify tools necessary for projects and give oral reasons as to how they placed the the class.

Primary, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior members judge separate classes based on age appropriateness. Primary members receive a participation ribbon. All regular members are placed from 1-15 in each age division.

Remember, in order to exhibit a project in the fair you must attend either Food Fiesta, ABA Judging Day or Fashion Revue.

Livestock Judging

The Livestock Field Day is an educational judging day in which members attend animal ethics, judge animals, identify feeds and give reasons as to how they placed the animals based on the animals confirmation. The ultimate goal of this field day is for the youth to gain the skills when selecting their animal for fair and to gain an understanding of the different feeds available and what they provide the animal.

Junior, Intermediate, and Senior members judge the following species at Field Day: Beef, Sheep, Meat Goats, Dairy Goats, Swine, Dairy, Rabbits, Avian, and Horses.

Primary members have a separate contest where they judge items and animals that are more age appropriate.

There is a training event prior to the field day. At this training, the youth will learn about the overview of the field day, the basics of giving oral reasons, how to complete the judging cards, and the different type of classes offered, and an introduction to judging terms.

You may use the study guide to better explain what to look for when judging the different animal species. We ask that you study prior to the event as the judging packet is not to be used on the day of the event.

Remember this event is a requirement in order to exhibit an animal at fair. If you cannot attend the field day, contact your key leader for make up possibilities.
