The Nutrition Policy Institute (NPI) at University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) is embarking upon an exciting new research and evaluation plan to better understand the effects of USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) in California under contract with The Department of Public Health's (CDPH) Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch (NEOPB).  CDPH and other California agencies implement SNAP-Ed programming to improve nutrition and physical activity for SNAP-eligible Californians by conducting multi-faceted, multi-sector community-based interventions. The proposed position is needed to provide leadership for the design and analysis of nutrition education and obesity prevention research and evaluation efforts for California's SNAP-Ed program. This position is located in the NPI Research Office in Berkeley, California.

Under the supervision of the PI and/or the Director of the Research and Evaluation Unit at NPI, the Epidemiologist will develop and conduct complex population-based sampling and perform appropriate statistical analyses for cross-sectional and longitudinal research and evaluation studies. Data for such analyses are from primary and secondary statewide dietary and physical activity surveys specific to the SNAP-Ed research and evaluation program under contract with the CA Department of Public Health's Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch (NEOPB) and in collaboration with other agency partners. The Epidemiologist must  have proficient writing skills and demonstrated experience writing background analyses, results and discussion sections of reports and manuscripts.

This is a part-time or full-time career position made at 50% or more, up to 100%.
