Under the general supervision of the Small Farms and Specialty Crops Advisor in Fresno County, the Administrative Officer will manage, plan, and administer the general administrative operations of the UCCE Fresno County Small Farms and Specialty Crops research and extension program and provide additional administrative support to the UC Small Farms Network. Administrative services include activities in finance, contracts and grants, and human resources and may also include IT, facilities, customer service, external communications, and compliance with UC ANR policies and safety procedures. The position uses knowledge and skills as an administrative professional with an understanding of UC system-wide practices, policies, and procedures. The Administrative Officer will work collaboratively with ANR Contracts and Grants, Central Procurement, IT, Payroll, HR, and business departments at other UC and non-UC locations. This position includes managing administrative processes and budgets for multiple grant awards from state, federal, and private funding sources and serves as a liaison and hand-off point regarding supported actions and functions. General management activities include assisting with long and shortrange strategic planning, assisting with recruitment of staff and academic positions, managing grant budgets and expenses, coordinating safety trainings, supervising student and volunteer positions, and managing clientele contacts.
This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed and ends 2 years from date of hire with the possibility of extension if funding permits.
The home department for this position is UCCE Fresno Madera MCP. While this position normally is based in Fresno, CA, this position is eligible for remote/hybrid flexible work arrangements, for applicants living in the State of California, at this time. Please note that hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the University.
Pay Scale: $65,300.00 to $91,800.00/year
